Which sports can you bet on
The sportsbook is organised by sport and then by country and competition. Football takes the biggest share of what Kenyan punters bet on, but individual sports like tennis and MMA tend to have steadier odds, because fewer variables decide the result. For how sports fits into the rest of the platform, see the CaptainsBet Kenya overview.
What’s the difference between a single and a multibet?
With a single, you stake your money on one selection; with a multibet, you combine two or more on the same slip, the odds multiply, and just one wrong pick loses the whole bet. Multibets are hugely popular in Kenya because they pay more — but that’s because they pile up risk, not because they offer better value: three picks at 1.60 give combined odds of 4.10, but you need all three to land. If you’re just starting out, singles on markets you know well are the smarter choice.
If you’re betting with bonus funds, note that the bonus terms require multibets with at least 3 selections, every pick at odds between 1.50 and 10, and only on football, tennis, basketball, volleyball, golf or cricket — your strategy has to follow those rules.
Bet types explained with numbers
What does Asian handicap mean?
Asian handicap gives one team an imaginary goal advantage or disadvantage, which takes the draw out of the equation. In a Premier League match where the favourite is listed at −1, you need them to win by two goals; if they win by one, your stake is refunded. Quarter-goal lines (−0.25 or −0.75) split your bet into two halves, one refunded and the other at risk.
How is the return on a bet calculated?
Multiply your stake by the decimal odds, and you get your total return, with your stake already included. A KES 200 bet at 2.40 returns KES 480, of which KES 280 is profit: (200 × 2.40) − 200 = KES 280. Keep in mind that with licensed Kenyan operators, betting taxes are deducted automatically, so the amount that reaches your M-Pesa can be slightly lower than the return shown on the slip.
Odds also show the implied probability: divide 1 by the odds and multiply by 100. Odds of 2.00 mean 50%, 1.50 is around 67%, and 5.00 comes to 20%. Comparing that percentage with your own read of the match is the basis of finding value at a bookmaker — it’s worth far more than chasing the highest odds on the slip.
Live betting: why the odds move
While a match is on, CaptainsBet odds are recalculated every second based on the score, the time played, red cards and how much money is coming into each market. A goal in the 20th minute instantly drops the odds of the team that scored and pushes up the next goal line. That’s what sets live betting apart from pre-match: you decide with information nobody had at kick-off, but with only seconds to do it.
Do the odds change after I place my bet?
No: your bet is recorded at the odds on the slip when it was accepted, and those are the odds you’re paid at. What can move is the market between your tap and the acceptance — which happens often in live betting. If the odds drop in that moment, the slip comes back to you to confirm the new price; if they go up, the bet goes through anyway.
What is cash out, and when is it worth using?
Cash out settles your bet before the match ends, for an amount calculated on the spot: you win less than the full potential return, but you stop risking everything. It makes sense in two situations — when your pick is ahead but the game is turning dangerous, and when a multibet now depends on just one uncertain result.
Worked example. You bet KES 200 on Arsenal at 2.10, with a potential return of KES 420. After 60 minutes Arsenal lead 1-0, and cash out offers KES 330: accepting settles the bet with KES 130 profit. With partial cash out, you take KES 150 and leave KES 50 running at the original odds, which still returns KES 105 if the win holds.
The cash out value drops whenever the match turns against your pick, and the button disappears when the market is suspended — during a goal chance, a penalty or a VAR check. Don’t rely on it as a guaranteed exit: it’s a tool, not a safety net.

Stats and betting on your phone
Every match has its own stats panel with the teams’ recent form, head-to-head record and live data — shots, corners and possession. Open it before choosing a goal line: it’s what separates a guess from an informed decision.
Most betting in Kenya happens on the phone, and the betting app solves the most annoying part of live betting: goal alerts reach you without the tab being open. On Android you can install the Android app from the website; on iPhone, the browser works just as well. Before you deposit, check this bookmaker’s licensing status in Kenya.

Frequently asked questions
The most popular matches have over 200, covering the result, goal lines, handicaps, corners, cards and player markets. Lower leagues have a shorter list that sticks to the main markets.
It’s a set of partial multibets built from the same selections. In a 2/3 system with three matches, you get three doubles, so you still win something even if one pick loses.
Yes. CS2, Dota 2 and League of Legends have their own markets, including map winner and map handicap. Big tournaments run for hours at a time, much of it live.
No. It depends on the market and the moment in the match: during key moments the offer is suspended and comes back once the play is over. Some specific markets never have it.
The markets are similar, but the result is generated by software, not a real match. Rounds last just a few minutes and follow one another with no schedule, which makes it easy to lose track of how much you’re betting.
Only bets that meet the campaign’s rules. For the welcome bonus, that means accumulators of 3 or more selections, each at odds between 1.50 and 10, on eligible sports only — esports, MMA and ice hockey don’t count. Check the terms before building your slip.
From time to time, boosted odds run on selected matches. These campaigns are announced in the promotions area and apply only to markets chosen by the operator.
