Which sports can you bet on?

The sportsbook menu opens by sport, then narrows down by country and competition. In Rwanda, football leads by a long way. Arsenal, PSG and Bayern carry «Visit Rwanda» on their kits, so their matches are especially popular, alongside the Amavubi and the APR FC vs Rayon Sports derby. Volleyball, cricket and golf also appear in the list, and basketball has a strong following in Kigali. A Saturday 3pm UK kick-off starts at 4pm or 5pm in Kigali, depending on the time of year. The CaptainsBet overview shows how sport fits alongside the casino and promotions.

Single or accumulator: which should you choose?

A single is one pick on one bet slip. An accumulator links two or more picks, multiplies their odds, and loses as soon as any single pick fails. The bigger payout reflects bigger risk, not better value. Take three picks at 1.70, 1.50 and 1.80: together they come to 4.59, but every one of them has to land. When you are new to betting, singles on leagues you follow closely are the safer place to start.

Betting with bonus money changes the rules, so read the welcome bonus terms before you build a slip. For the Sport Welcome Bonus, only accumulators with at least three selections count, and each selection must be priced from 1.5 to 10. Bets must be on football, tennis, basketball, volleyball, golf or cricket. Casino games never count towards sports bonus wagering.

Bet types with worked examples

Type How it works Example in RWF Risk
Single One pick decides the bet 2,000 RWF at 1.85 pays 3,700 RWF Low
Accumulator All odds multiplied; every pick must win 1.70 × 1.50 × 1.80 = 4.59; 2,000 RWF pays 9,180 RWF High
System Several smaller combinations, so one loser does not sink everything 2/3 on three matches = three doubles of 1,000 RWF (3,000 RWF in total) Medium
Asian handicap A virtual goal lead or deficit set before kick-off Favourite −1: wins 2-0 and you win, wins 1-0 and your stake comes back Medium
Over/under goals Total goals above or below a line Over 2.5: a 2-1 finish wins, 1-1 loses Low
Double chance Two of the three results in one pick Home or draw at 1.25: 4,000 RWF pays 5,000 RWF Low
Correct score The exact final score 2-1 at 8.50: 1,000 RWF pays 8,500 RWF Very high
Corners and cards Over/under a total, the same way as goals Over 9.5 corners at 1.90: 2,000 RWF pays 3,800 RWF Medium

How does Asian handicap work?

Asian handicap starts one side a goal ahead or behind on paper, so a draw can no longer happen. If Arsenal are −1 at home, they must win by at least two for your bet to win. A one-goal win gives your stake back. Lines ending in .25 or .75, such as −0.25 or −0.75, split your stake in two. One half can be refunded while the other half wins or loses.

How do you calculate what a bet pays?

Multiply your stake by the decimal odds. The result is the full payout, with your stake already inside it. For example, 5,000 RWF at 2.40 pays 12,000 RWF, which is 7,000 RWF of profit: (5,000 × 2.40) − 5,000 = 7,000. In Rwanda, RDB-licensed operators deduct a 25% withholding tax from net winnings when they pay out. CaptainsBet is not licensed by the RDB, so check your own tax position.

Odds also show how likely the bookmaker thinks an outcome is. Divide 1 by the odds and multiply by 100: 2.00 is 50%, 1.25 is 80% and 4.00 is 25%. If your own estimate is clearly higher than that figure, the price may be good value. That habit pays off far more than chasing the longest odds on the screen.

Live betting: why the odds keep moving

From kick-off, CaptainsBet prices update every second. They respond to the score, the clock, red cards and the money flowing into each market. An early goal shortens the scoring side’s price at once and lifts the goal line for the rest of the match. That is what sets in-play betting apart: you know things nobody knew before the start, but you have only moments to act on them.

Can my odds change once the bet is placed?

No. Once a bet is accepted, it is settled at the odds printed on your bet slip. The price can only shift in the short gap between your tap and acceptance, which is common during live play. If the odds fall in that gap, the slip asks you to approve the new price. If they rise, the bet is accepted without a prompt.

What is cash out and when should you use it?

Cash out closes your bet early for an amount calculated in real time. You give up part of the potential payout, and in exchange you stop risking the whole stake. It helps in two cases: your pick is ahead but the momentum is shifting, or a long accumulator now rests on one shaky final result.

Worked example. You back the Amavubi to win a qualifier at 2.10 with 4,000 RWF, for a potential payout of 8,400 RWF. Rwanda are 1-0 up after an hour, and the cash out offer is 6,600 RWF. Accept it and you lock in 2,600 RWF profit. With partial cash out, you could take three-quarters of the offer, 4,950 RWF, and leave 1,000 RWF of your stake running at 2.10, which adds 2,100 RWF if Rwanda hold on. These figures are only an illustration; the real offer depends on the match.

The cash out value falls whenever the game turns against your pick. The option is also hidden while a market is suspended: after a goal, during a penalty or while VAR is checking. It is a way to manage a bet, not a guarantee that you can always get out.

Place your first bet in four steps

1

Choose a competition
Open Sports and filter by country and league. Matches already being played are under Live.

2

Open all markets
Tap the fixture to see the full market list, not only the 1X2 prices on the main screen.

3

Enter your stake
Type the amount on the bet slip and check the potential payout before you confirm.

4

Track it in your account
The bet appears under “open bets”, with its live status and the cash out button.

Match stats and betting on your phone

Each fixture has a stats panel with recent form, previous meetings and live numbers such as shots, corners and possession. Check it before you pick a goal or corner line, because it turns a hunch into a reasoned choice. Be wary of anyone selling “fixed matches”, “sure odds” or “predictor” tips in Telegram or WhatsApp groups. The same goes for anyone who asks you to pay a fee via MTN MoMo or Airtel Money, or who wants your login or PIN. Nobody can guarantee the result of a match.

Many players in Rwanda follow matches from their phones, and the CaptainsBet mobile app sends goal alerts even when you are not looking at the match. Android users can download the APK from the official site, and on iPhone the browser version does the same job. Before your first deposit, read whether CaptainsBet is legal in Rwanda.

Frequently asked questions

How many markets are there on a Premier League match?
Headline fixtures, such as an Arsenal or Manchester United game, have more than 200 markets: result, goal lines, handicaps, corners, cards and player bets. Smaller leagues get a shorter list focused on the main markets.
What is a system bet?
A system bet splits your selections into several smaller accumulators. With a 2/3 system on three matches you hold three doubles, so one wrong pick still leaves you with a winning double.
Can I bet on esports?
Yes. CS2, Dota 2 and League of Legends each have their own markets, such as map winner and map handicap. Major tournaments run for many hours, and most matches can be bet on in-play.
Is cash out always available?
No. It depends on the market and on what is happening in the match. The offer is paused at key moments and returns once play settles, and some markets do not offer cash out at all.
Are virtual sports the same as real football?
The markets look familiar, but a computer decides each result. Rounds take a few minutes and follow one another without a break, which makes it easy to spend more than planned. Decide your budget before you start, and never bet money set aside for rent, school fees or repaying a mobile money loan.
Which bets count towards bonus wagering?
Only bets that match the offer’s format and odds range. For the Sport Welcome Bonus, these are accumulators of at least three selections priced from 1.5 to 10 each, on football, tennis, basketball, volleyball, golf or cricket. Singles and casino games do not count, so check the terms before you build your bet slip.
Is there a promotion for accumulators?
Yes, Double Dooble. It covers accumulators of two or more selections, each at odds of 2.00 or higher, with a minimum stake of around 15,000 RWF. If your bet is randomly selected and wins, its net winnings are doubled, up to around 630,000 RWF. Amounts in RWF are approximate and based on the offer in Ugandan shillings; the exact currency and amounts are shown in the cashier and in each promotion’s terms.
